Discussion of integration of African American women into the student body at Columbia College during the late 1960s through the mid-1970s. Essay based on interviews with three African American alumnae of this women's college in South Carolina: Gloria Quick of Orangeburg, S.C. (Class of 1969), and two sisters: Gaye O'Neal [Harper] and Raye O'Neal [Boyd] of Jenkinsville, S.C. (both Class of 1973); also discusses long tenure of Dr. Robert Wright Spears, president of Columbia College from 1951-1977 and long-time activist with the Christian Action Council. Research paper completed by graduate student enrolled in Curriculum in Higher Education (EDCI 728) taught by Prof. Craig Alan. Kridel at University of South Carolina, School of Education.
